After the House of Representatives and the Senate passed their legislation, President Trump has now signed the bill that calls on the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files.

In a Truth Social message posted Wednesday night, Trump wrote about Jeffrey Epstein and his connections to prominent Democrats.

“Jeffrey Epstein, who was charged by the Trump Justice Department in 2019 (Not the Democrats!), was a lifelong Democrat, donated Thousands of Dollars to Democrat Politicians, and was deeply associated with many well-known Democrat figures, such as Bill Clinton (who traveled on his plane 26 times), Larry Summers (who just resigned from many Boards, including Harvard), Sleazebag Political Activist Reid Hoffman, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (who asked Epstein to donate to his Campaign AFTER Epstein was charged), Democrat Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett, and many more.”

Trump then made his announcement.

“Perhaps the truth about these Democrats, and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein, will soon be revealed, because I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!”

The president said he asked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune to pass the bill in the House and Senate. Because of this request, the votes were almost unanimous in favor of passage.

Trump said that at his direction, the Department of Justice has already turned over close to fifty thousand pages of documents to Congress.

“Do not forget — The Biden Administration did not turn over a SINGLE file or page related to Democrat Epstein, nor did they ever even speak about him.”

Trump accused Democrats of using the Epstein issue to try and distract from what he called amazing victories by his administration.

“Democrats have used the ‘Epstein’ issue, which affects them far more than the Republican Party, in order to try and distract from our AMAZING Victories, including THE GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TAX CUT BILL, Strong Borders, No Men in Women’s Sports or Transgender for Everyone, ending DEI, stopping Biden’s Record Setting Inflation, lowering Prices, Biggest Tax and Regulation Cuts in History, ending EIGHT Wars, rebuilding our Military, knocking out Iran’s Nuclear capability, getting Trillions of Dollars INVESTED in the U.S.A., creating the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World, and even delivering a HUGE DEFEAT to the Democrats on the recent Shutdown Disaster.”

The president listed what he called years of Democrat-created witch hunts and scams.

“For years our Great Nation has had to endure RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, IMPEACHMENT HOAX #1, IMPEACHMENT HOAX #2, and many other Democrat created Witch Hunts and Scams, all of which have been so terrible and divisive for our Country, and have been done to confuse, deflect, and distract from the GREAT JOB that Republicans, and the Trump Administration, are doing.”

Trump said this latest hoax will backfire on the Democrats just as all of the rest have.

The New York Times noted that Trump’s signature does not guarantee the release of all the files. The bill contains significant exceptions including a provision protecting continuing investigations, which could mean many documents would stay confidential.

The signing represents a major shift from Trump’s earlier position on the legislation. For weeks the president criticized efforts to release the files and feuded publicly with Representative Thomas Massie who authored the bill. Trump suddenly reversed course over the weekend and urged Congress to pass the legislation.

The House passed the bill in a 427-1 vote with only one Republican voting against it. The Senate then quickly moved the legislation forward and sent it to Trump’s desk for his signature.

Trump used his signing statement to frame the Epstein files issue as primarily a Democrat problem. He highlighted Bill Clinton’s reported 26 trips on Epstein’s private plane and mentioned several other prominent Democrats with alleged connections to the convicted sex offender.

The president specifically called out House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for allegedly asking Epstein to donate to his campaign even after Epstein was charged with crimes. Trump also named Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett as having connections to Epstein.

By signing the bill, Trump fulfilled a campaign promise to release the files while simultaneously trying to paint the issue as damaging primarily to Democrats. He argued that the Biden Administration never turned over any Epstein-related documents during their time in office.

The actual impact of Trump’s signature remains to be seen. Attorney General Pam Bondi now has 30 days to begin releasing unclassified documents related to Epstein from the Department of Justice, FBI, and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices.

However, the law gives Bondi broad authority to withhold or redact sensitive material. She can block information involving child sexual abuse material, personal information of alleged victims, and anything that could compromise ongoing investigations or national security.

Critics worry these exceptions could be used to keep most of the files secret. Supporters argue the law represents an important step toward transparency about Epstein’s network of powerful associates.

The legislation received overwhelming bipartisan support despite partisan accusations about who would be most harmed by the release.
