We’ve been wondering for quite some time…what happened to the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 presidential elections? It’s as if the news broke, and it all just disappeared.

Over the past few months, we’ve learned that social media platforms worked to suppress the information. They felt that if people knew too much, they’d vote for Trump.

What this means is that if the news was simply made available, we might not have Biden as our president right now.

With Elon Musk taking over Twitter, he made a promise. He told us he’d tell us what happened with how the Hunter Biden story was suppressed. And on December 2, he tweeted about how the story would be published at 5 pm ET.

As the time clicked closer and closer, Musk provided updates. At one point, he said “We’re double-checking some facts, so probably start live tweeting in about 40 minutes.”

Then, the excitement began.

The thread was entitled “THE TWITTER FILES.”

Matt Taibbi, who was given the communications, is a Substack writer and a critic of online censorship. He called it “a Frankensteinian tale of a human-built mechanism grown out the control of its designer.”
The New York Post reported on the files found on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the final weeks of the presidential campaign of 2020. There was dissent and confusion across Twitter to determine how to respond to the Post’s report.

Twitter blocked links – and that also prevented users from being able to share those links in retweets as well as private messages.

The Post refused to delete their tweet about the story, which led Twitter to suspend the account.
And when Biden was asked about the report during a debate following the breaking news, he called it a “Russian plant.”

There was no evidence that the laptop was tampered with.

Many believe that the files were “largely genuine” as reported by POLITICO.
Yet, no one was really able to talk about the story because of how links were being blocked left and right.

Taibbi shared 33 tweets within his thread on December 2. He exposed a significant amount of internal communication. Basically, the Twitter executives were trying to figure out how they could mark the information as “unsafe” while still falling within the parameters of their terms and conditions.
What’s exciting about it all is that Taibbi shares screenshots of actual emails from the various Twitter executives as they discuss everything from gathering intel to restricting the dissemination of newspaper articles.

Obviously, this action by Twitter predates Elon Musk’s takeover, which is why he was so willing to hand it over.

At least, now, we can be sure that Twitter really WAS suppressing the story.
