Biden’s DOJ Betrays Jewish Students, Lets UCLA Avoid Accountability for Discrimination

Of course, the Biden administration’s Department of Education settled civil rights complaints against the University of California for allegedly letting Jewish students get harassed all over campus. What groundbreaking solution did they propose? Voluntary campus “climate surveys” and a few half-hearted measures that convey, “We’re doing the bare minimum, thanks.”

Don’t worry—UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) made sure to sidestep any actual accountability. No admission of wrongdoing here! Instead, the university generously agreed to train their campus police and employees on how to maybe not ignore discrimination complaints. They’ll also be cooking up some climate surveys to determine if discrimination is still happening. Translation: “Let’s ask people if they feel harassed, and then… who knows?”

This followed the chaos at UCLA, where activists protesting Israel’s actions in Gaza took their anti-Semitism to appalling levels, including barring Jewish students from certain campus areas unless they renounced their religious beliefs. Yes, that really happened. Three students finally sued the school, claiming UCLA officials just shrugged their shoulders while calls for genocide, Nazi symbols, and slurs went wild.

Federal Judge Mark Scarsi didn’t mince words, ripping UCLA for letting this nightmare unfold and ordering them to make sure Jewish students could access their own campus. Scarsi called it “unimaginable and abhorrent” that anyone had to spell this out in the first place.

But hey, the University of California is now “pleased” to announce its voluntary resolution agreement, which includes nothing remotely bold. Their statement is a masterpiece of corporate speak, promising to “cultivate a respectful and welcoming environment” while “unequivocally rejecting anti-Semitism.” Apparently, that rejection doesn’t include admitting fault for letting this mess fester across UCLA. In addition to UCLA’s location, the agreement also impacts campuses in Santa Barbara, San Diego, Davis, and Santa Cruz.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education, under Biden, has launched a bunch of similar investigations into schools accused of discriminating against Jewish students. But don’t hold your breath—most cases just end in meaningless “training” sessions and glossy anti-discrimination statements.
